When we stand, the lower back functions to hold most of the weight of the body. When we bend, extend or rotate at the waist, the lower back is involved in the movement. Therefore, injury to the lumbar structure, important for bearing weight, such as bony spine, muscles, tendons, and ligaments, can be detected when
the body is standing erect, or used in various movements.
Protecting the soft tissues of the nervous system and spinal cord as well as adjacent organs of the pelvis and abdomen is a critical function of the lumber spine and muscles. One of the common causes for the backache is poor posture habit. Balanced posture decreases stress on your back by keeping the muscles, bones and other supporting parts in their natural position. Any change from normal spinal curve can stress or pull muscles. This leads to increased muscle contraction, which causes pain.

The diagnosis of back pain is based on the history of injury, the location of the pain, X-ray Lumbar spine and MRI/CT scan. The treatment of back pain consists of : Resting the back (to avoid re-injury), medication to relieve pain and muscle spasm, local heat applications and massage. Part of the treatment of your spine includes posture correction.

When the body posture is correct there is minimal strain on the muscles, ligaments, bones, and joints. Your internal organs are not compressed, blood vessels are not pressed, nerves are not irritated, and you look good. This allows your body to function at its best.

Ayurvedic Panchakarma treatments like Abhyanga (oil massage), Vasti (meditated enema) are very much helpful in relieving backache and correcting abnormalities.
